Every time you access a file on the internet, your browser caches (stores) it.  In that manner the files and images do not need to be newly created from the remote website’s server if you click the back and forward buttons, or return to that website.  Over time these files accumulate and can frustrate you because your computer seems to be almost as fast as a snail.  A far  cry from when it was new, heh?  The worldwide web just became the world wide wait.

Here are some simple instructions to recover speed by clearing  your cache, and cookies.

1.  Go to > Start > Control Panel > Internet Options >

2. On the General tab, click  delete under browsing history.  Then make sure that the following items are  checked: (a)  Preserve favorites website date, (b) Temporary Internet Files, (c) Cookies, (d) History.  Then click “delete”

3.  If you use Firefox, select  “Tools” then ‘ Options.”  From the “Privacy” tab click “Show Cookies” then “Remove All Cookies.”

4.  Now Go to > Start > Run.  Type “cmd” in the run box.  At the prompt, type “ipconfig/flushdns.”  Type “exit” after the command has completed.

5.  Now right-click the “Start” button,  Select “Explore” from the menu.  Double-click the “C” drive and navigate to the “Windows” folder and search for the “Temp” folder.   Double- click it and then choose Edit from the file menu.  Click “Select All.”  When they are all highlighted, select “File” and “Delete” from the menu.  Click “Yes” to verify.
